Fire won’t disrupt plans for Democrats’ BBQ

Lake County Democrats’ annual barbecue will go on as planned at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Obsidian Middle School despite that campus venue being threatened by the Boyles Fire. The event is sold out. (See details.)

Party officials expressed gratitude for staff at Konocti Unified School District, especially maintenance office assistant Olivia Jaramillo Campos, who have worked to ensure the Cornelison Event Center is cleaned and ready for use.

Event organizers also expressed sympathy for families displaced by the Boyles Fire, and asked those planning to attend the barbecue to consider bringing a gift card or gas card to be collected at the event. Lake County Democrats will then provide them to an authorized organization to support those impacted by the fire.

30th annual BBQ – Thank you for a successful event!!

The Lake County DCC Annual Legislators’ BBQ was a rousing success!! Our honored guests included U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, State Sen. (and President Pro Tem Designee) Mike McGuire, Assemblymember (and Assembly Speaker Pro Tem) Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, state Treasurer Fiona Ma and several local elected officials. The event was held Nov. 5, 2023, at Obsidian Middle School in Clearlake, raising more than $25,000 to help support the party and local candidates in nonpartisan races.

It’s always great to get together with a room full of motivated Democrats, but this tasty lead-in to the 2024 elections might have been the most important yet. We enjoyed hearing from our representatives! Thank you to all who helped and to Roy Zimmerman and Good Measure for providing entertainment! See our Gallery page for more photos.

Proud of our Diversity – Clearlake July 4th parade

A group of Lake County Democrats were proud to participate in the 2023 Clearlake Annual July 4th parade (despite the very high temperature).

We led off with our banner

Lake County Democrats – Proud of our Diversity

followed by our decorated truck with Mickey Mouse on the hood proudly wearing his pride cape

and our signs – Everyone is Welcome, Everyone Belongs.

It was heartwarming that our message of diversity and inclusion received such a warm reception from the crowd.

Thanks to CA State Treasurer Fiona Ma’s husband Jason for stepping in at the last minute with his truck after it became clear that weather conditions were not ok for our planned  horse color guard and our mini cooper.

And on to 2024.
