The Big Beautiful Delay is not just bad policy—it’s a political time bomb. Cuts to Medicaid, housing, rural clinics, and global aid are deliberately delayed until after the 2026 midterms. So they can get your vote before you feel the pain.
This isn’t reform. It’s sabotage.

“This is the overlooked role that launched a revolution — and it’s still wide open for progressives…”
“If progressives hope to have any shot at influencing today’s Democratic Party and kicking out the corporate sellout Democrats and replacing them with real-deal progressives, then we need to get to work right now to do exactly what the Tea Party did a decade and a half ago to take power.
“And it starts in our own backyards.”
“It starts with Precinct Committeemen and women — people who are either appointed or win local elections with very few votes at stake, in some cases only 10 or 20 votes — to gain positions that pretty much anyone can hold but which wield enormous power.
“It’s Precinct Committee Persons who elect district, county, and state party officials and delegates, who choose primary nominees that then go on to hold elected office, and who help draft a party’s platform.”
“Control the primaries — as the Precinct Committee Members do — and you control the ultimate candidate, the election, and ultimately the nation, as we’ve seen repeatedly since the Tea Party era.”

Lake County Democrats Join Nationwide “Dare to Fight Fascism” Protest on August 2
The Lake County Democrats will host a peaceful protest at the Old Courthouse Museum Park in Lakeport from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, as part of the national “50501: Dare to Fight Fascism” movement. This demonstration is one of hundreds taking place across the country in all 50 states, calling on Americans to defend democracy and reject rising authoritarianism.
“We are standing up — proudly and unequivocally — for democratic values, human rights, and the rule of law,” said the Lake County Democrats in a joint statement. “This is a moment that demands action, and we will not be silent while our democracy is under attack.”
Organized locally by the Lake County Democratic Central Committee, the protest aims to draw attention to a growing list of concerns about authoritarian overreach, including attacks on voting rights, judicial independence, immigrant communities, and freedom of the press.
“Lake County may be rural, but we are not remote from what’s happening in our nation,” said Lake County Democratic Chair Nara Dahlbacka. “Every erosion of democratic norms and every abuse of power has consequences — even right here at home.”
The Lakeport event is co-sponsored by Indivisible Lake County CA, a nonpartisan grassroots network advocating for government accountability and transparency. Together, the two organizations are mobilizing residents across Lake County to take a visible stand against political extremism, corruption, and efforts to dismantle democratic institutions.
Participants are encouraged to bring handmade signs, wear comfortable clothing, and speak up for what they believe in. Water and shade are also advised, as the event will take place outdoors.
The Lake County Democrats invite all community members — regardless of party affiliation — to attend the rally and join in a shared commitment to protect American democracy. “This is not about politics,” the group stated. “This is about principles. We must rise together in unity to say: enough.”

Join Us in Protest Against Fascism – In Honor of the 249th Signing of the Declaration of Independence
Mark your calendars! Bring 2 friends! Let’s make it BIG!
This August, as we mark the 249th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we gather not only to remember the founding ideals of liberty, equality, and justice—but to defend them. Join us for a peaceful protest against fascism, authoritarianism, and all forms of oppression that threaten the very freedoms our nation was built upon.
Let this be a reminder that patriotism means standing up for democracy, for human rights, and for a government that serves the people—not controls them. Together, we raise our voices in solidarity, in resistance, and in hope for a future where freedom truly belongs to all.
Bring your signs, your passion, and your voice.
Because freedom demands participation.
Tell all your friends … bring 2 of them to the protest!
See you there!
