As candidate filing has concluded, several local races are shaping up to be important contests in the November 3, 2026 Midterm Election. Based on the official candidate filings, Lake County Democrats have opportunities to make a meaningful impact in a number of local races.
Lakeport City Council
Three candidates have qualified to run for two seats on the Lakeport City Council. The seats are currently held by incumbent Brandon Disney and incumbent Stacey Mattina. Joining them on the ballot is Carl Ross Porter, creating a competitive three-candidate race for two council seats.
Clearlake City Council
The Clearlake City Council race will feature five candidates competing for two seats. Candidate Russell Cremer is the sole incumbent seeking election. The remaining candidates are Dean Clark, Zabdy Neria, Carlos Ramos, and Alvaro Valencia. According to candidate filing information, incumbent Dirk Slooten is not seeking reelection. This race presents an important opportunity to influence the future direction of Clearlake city government.
Lakeport Unified School District
The Lakeport Unified School District election will also be closely watched. Two seats are open, and neither incumbent filed for reelection. Three candidates are running for the two available positions: Camille Rose Sanchez, Jarred Himenes, and Elizebeth Horat.
Democratic Endorsements
The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will consider and vote on candidate endorsements at its next regular monthly Central Committee meeting. Democrats and community members interested in learning which candidates have earned the Party’s support are encouraged to watch for endorsement announcements following that meeting.
