Congresswoman Barbara Lee will speak briefly at our upcoming Lake County Democratic Central Committee meeting held via Zoom on October 4th at 645PM. The meeting begins at 630PM. She is a candidate for the US Senate race. A group of Lake County Democrats were proud to participate in the 2023 Clearlake Annual July 4th parade (despite the very high temperature).
We led off with our banner

followed by our decorated truck with Mickey Mouse on the hood proudly wearing his pride cape
and our signs – Everyone is Welcome, Everyone Belongs.
It was heartwarming that our message of diversity and inclusion received such a warm reception from the crowd.
Thanks to CA State Treasurer Fiona Ma’s husband Jason for stepping in at the last minute with his truck after it became clear that weather conditions were not ok for our planned horse color guard and our mini cooper.

The Democratic Party has long been at the forefront of championing the rights of people with different sexual orientations and/or gender expressions. On June 6, 2023, local Dems gave powerful testimony when the Lake County Board of Supervisors passed a proclamation celebrating LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.

Today, Explained hosts Noel King and Sean Rameswaram sat down with Frost and David Hogg, a co-founder of March for Our Lives. Hogg and Frost are part of America’s increasingly politically influential Gen Z generation. They shared what they think their generation cares about when it comes to gun violence, climate change, and the 2024 presidential election. Plus, Rep. Frost walks us through the details of a new bill he co-introduced with Sen. Chris Murphy, which would create the first federal office dedicated to gun violence prevention.
